In this course you will learn how to:
1. Recognize respiratory distress and failure, shock, and cardiac arrest.
2. Provide appropriate lifesaving actions within the initial minutes of response until the child is transferred to an advanced life support provider.
Books for this class can be purchased or borrowed in the Staff Development Office.
This course prerequisites include: 1. Be proficient in performing CPR skills using the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.
2. Understand the basic concepts of the "assess-categorize-decide-act" approach. Students are expected to read and study the PEARS provider Manual and student CD prior to class.
This course will be awarded 6.0 contact hours
Cost for the course is $80.00 for BRH staff and $160.00 for non-BRH staff (does not include the cost of the books). Work with your director to assure you have time off the unit to take the class.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
