Sleep Lab

Sleep is a basic necessity of life, as fundamental to our health as air, food and water. When we sleep well, we wake up refreshed and ready to face the day. When our sleep is interrupted, every aspect of our lives suffers. Unfortunately, interrupted sleep is a common problem. In fact, more than one-third of all Americans experience problems sleeping at some time in their life. From snoring to sleepwalking and nightmares, sleep disorders leave a person listless, lethargic, and forgetful.

If you aren't sleeping as well as you could, the experts at Bartlett Regional Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Laboratory can help.

Our Sleep Lab

When the sleep experts at Bartlett Regional Hospital diagnose sleep disorders, we look for solutions that reduce the consequences of long-term sleep loss. We offer a complete, state-of-the-art sleep disorders laboratory, staffed by compassionate, experienced medical experts. Our team approaches each case with a thorough analysis, followed by patient education and treatment.

Sleep problems we commonly diagnose and treat include:

  • Sleep apnea.
  • Periodic limb movement disorder.
  • Restless legs syndrome.
  • Narcolepsy.
  • Parasomnias, including sleep walking, night terrors and nightmares.
  • Insomnia.

What to Expect During a Sleep Study

The sleep lab is located on the second floor at Bartlett Regional Hospital. It offers hotel-like suites complete with a full-size bed, television and a private bathroom with a shower.

During your sleep study, you’ll sleep with sensors on your head, face, legs and chest that will monitor you. Even with the sensors, you’ll have full range of motion and will be able to move around your room and turn in bed just like you normally would.

In the morning, you'll have a full breakfast served in your room.

Our team will fax preliminary results to your referring doctor immediately following the sleep study. We’ll provide complete analysis within 14 days of the study, which includes a treatment plan tailored to your condition.

Schedule a Sleep Study

A doctor referral is required to schedule an appointment. Visit juneausleep.org to schedule a sleep study and upload referral paperwork. Sleep study appointments are usually scheduled within two weeks of referral. Patient Access Services 907.796.8900 handles all pre-certification and insurance billing. Our sleep lab uses global billing, so patients will receive one bill from us for the whole sleep study. Most insurance companies cover evaluation and treatment. Contact your insurance provider for specific coverage questions.
