Bartlett Regional Hospital’s first baby of the new year was born on January 3, 2023. Ethan Weed was born weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces and is 20.5 inches long. Ethan is the second child of Hannah and Adam Weed of Juneau and has a big sister at home.
As part of the hospital’s celebration, the Weed family was surprised with a handmade wooden rocking boat filled with newborn items. The family is the sixth recipient of what has become a Bartlett Beginnings tradition for the first baby of the year. The boat was made by Dr. Lindy Jones, an ED Physician at Bartlett, and his wife, Colleen Jones. This year’s boat is made from yellow cedar donated by Icy Straits Lumber in Hoonah.
