Sam Muse has been promoted to the hospital’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position. Mr. Muse will begin his role as CFO on January 8, 2023.
Sam Muse joined the Bartlett team in August 2022 as the Controller, responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the hospital. Mr. Muse transitioned into the Interim CFO position in November 2022 with the departure of Bob Tyk, whose interim contract ended.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with the committed team here at Bartlett,” said Sam Muse. “Bartlett has been a vital part of my life as a provider of care to my family, the place that my children were born, and as the employer of many people that are important to me. I look forward to helping strengthen the hospital to ensure we continue to provide great care to the residents of Juneau, Southeast Alaska, and its visitors for many years to come.”
Mr. Muse is a lifelong Alaskan with over 12 years of accounting and auditing experience, most recently serving as the City & Borough of Juneau’s (CBJ) Controller since 2017. Mr. Muse has worked closely with Bartlett on several previous occasions, including managing the hospital’s Enterprise Fund account as the CBJ Enterprise/Internal Service Fund Accountant from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that role, Mr. Muse served as an auditor for a certified public accounting firm in Anchorage and the Alaska Legislature Division of Legislative Audit. Mr. Muse holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Gonzaga University.
“Sam’s prior experience with CBJ and familiarity with Bartlett make him a great fit for the position,” said CEO David Keith. “It’s always rewarding to promote from within the organization and recognize local talent. Sam has proven his skills and abilities while serving in an interim capacity these past few months.”
