Bartlett Regional Hospital Announces Fireweed Award Recipients

Bartlett Regional Hospital (BRH) is pleased to announce the next round of Fireweed Award recipients for their exceptional care and service to the community.
27 nominations were submitted this quarter and four employees were randomly selected for hospital wide recognition:
Jennifer Gutierrez (goo-TEE-air-es) is the Nurse Manager of Infusion Therapy who was nominated by a patient for her willingness to go above and beyond and collaborate with the patient’s provider and hospital pharmacy to allow the patient to remain in Juneau and receive a specialized chemotherapy drug.
Tracey Higdon is a Physical Therapy Assistant who was nominated by a colleague for her thoughtful, encouraging, and motivating support for patients. “We had a patient in the Critical Care Unit who had a stroke and Tracey’s efforts were not only thorough, but also really helped put the patient at ease, showing the patient what they could do!”
Shawn Nolan is a Groundskeeper who was nominated by two different colleagues for his positive demeanor and hard work ethic. “He is always in a bright mood and continuously goes above and beyond in all seasons to ensure our grounds are well-kept, from plowing and salting during early snowy mornings to keeping things lively in our gardens in the summer.”
Mary Manalansan (man-alansan) is a Same Day Surgery Nurse who was nominated by a patient for her amazing customer service. “Mary is kind, considerate, outgoing, and funny. She is also very attentive to my needs and explained things as she was doing them, which helped to keep my anxiety down. Many places in Juneau need more Mary’s working for them!”
A celebration event was held on campus and each recipient received a recognition pin, a gift card courtesy of the BRH Foundation, and a designated parking spot for the quarter.
