Health Matters

Health Matters is a healthy lifestyle program developed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to help persons with a condition called pre-diabetes avoid developing Type 2 diabetes through food selection, exercise and weight loss. The program is not a quick fix! It demands a year-long commitment to attending class, increasing exercise to 150 minutes per week, losing 5-7% of body weight, and learning and implementing healthy food selection and preparation. Class meets every week for 16 weeks, then every other week and eventually monthly over the course of the year. This national program is led by Lifestyle coaches and boasts a 58% success rate in reversing pre-diabetes or delaying type 2 diabetes!
