Surgical Services / Same Day Care

Surgical Services includes the Same Day Care Unit, Operating Room, Central Processing and the Post Anesthesia Unit (PACU).

All patients who enter Bartlett Regional Hospital for surgery as inpatient or outpatient are admitted through the Same Day Care Unit. Procedures performed at Bartlett include:

Most patients are seen one to three days prior their scheduled surgical procedures at which time they are evaluated by an RN. The pre-operative evaluation may include tests, care instructions. The nurse will discuss with you any questions and concerns you might have. Same Day Care staff is comprised of 10 registered nurses who work on full time, part time and casual basis.

Surgical Services – Bartlett has three general operating suites, one endoscopy suite, a recovery room and central sterile supply services. Surgical coverage is available 24 hours a day.

Cardio vascular and neurosurgery are referred to larger medical centers unless a life-threatening condition needs immediate attention prior to medivac.

Emergency Surgery is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Bartlett Regional Hospital works in conjunction with Life Center Northwest for the procurement of organs and tissues. In accordance with Alaska state law and Bartlett policy, all patients are provided with a routine donor consent form upon admission.
