Community Programs

The Community Wellness Outreach Program supports healthy lifestyle and education opportunities in Juneau and southeast Alaska. In addition to community health education, the program sponsors at least three health fairs annually in outlying communities and collaborates with the non-profit Alaska Health Fair Inc to support Juneau’s Health Fair opportunities.

 

2013 Nugget Mall Glucose/Cholesterol/Blood Pressure Screenings

On the local front, Bartlett Hospital offers non-fasting glucose/cholesterol screenings and blood pressure checks by registered nurses and registered dieticians at the Nugget Mall in Juneau five times a year. These services are free to the public and provide the community ongoing access to screenings.

2013 Screening dates:

  • May 4
  • July 27
  • September 21
  • November 30

Screenings run from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm.

Safe Sitter® Babysitting Classes

The Safe Sitter® class is a medically based course designed to teach safe and nurturing babysitting skills to young adolescents. Instruction includes how to deal with first aid problems, medical emergencies and how to rescue a choking child. Safe Sitter® also teaches organizational skills, safety habits and the importance of knowing when to call for help.

Bartlett Regional Hospital is a tobacco-free campus. We are committed to the health, safety and comfort of our patients. If you or a family member uses tobacco, we can help.

Diabetes Education Classes

Bartlett Regional Hospital offers diabetes education appointments to help you understand your health condition and learn to live life with diabetes.

Our educators work with you and your medical providers in order to help you control your diabetes so it won’t control you! We offer information about Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes, and Pre-diabetes.

Bartlett Beginnings - classes and resources for the childbearing years.

At Bartlett Beginnings we are committed to providing the best tools possible to prepare and support you through pregnancy and childbirth as well as the joys and challenges that follow.

All of the classes and groups offered by Bartlett Beginnings Family Birth Center are taught by experienced nurses who specialize in obstetrics.
