Interns, Job Shadows, Volunteers, and Students in Clinical Practicum Application

Intern: An intern is a student in a designated field being introduced to the healthcare culture and environment as hired staff or job shadow. The intern is not currently licensed in their field of study (A Nurse Intern may have a CNA license)

Student or Clinical Practicum:  A current student or recent graduate of an accredited healthcare program  participating in a Clinical or Practicum as part of their education degree requirements;  is an individual who is not currently licensed or certified in their area of study and has minimal or no experience in their field.

Job Shadow : A job shadow is a temporary placement designed to provide the opportunity to observe health care workers’ on-the-job tasks.  This experience is limited to observation only.

Volunteer: A volunteer is someone who performs or offers to perform a service without pay.

We are pleased that our wages are competitive and we have brought up to market the few positions that were below market.

Our benefit package is strongly competitive and our generous paid leave program is one of the best in the Pacific Northwest. Bartlett participates in the City & Borough of Juneau self-insured medical program which provides for a three tier choice for employees and their families. In addition, Bartlett participates in the State of Alaska Public Employees Retirement Program (PERS) as we are considered a government entity with the City and Borough of Juneau. New Employee Orientation

Bartlett is pleased to provide a comprehensive New Employee Orientation program to all employees. The program is designed to meet not only the requirements of The Joint Commission regulatory agency, but also strives to truly assist our new staff in the on-boarding process.

New Employee Orientation is held on the second and fourth Monday of each month. To accommodate varying schedules, an Interim Orientation is scheduled as needed. Employees must start work on the second or fourth Monday of the month.

  • Day One (all employees) includes the CEO Statement on Mission and Vision, hands-on computer/electronic training for timesheets and Meditech, Compliance, Confidentiality, Infection Control, Quality and Process Improvment, Fire and Life Safety and Hospital Wide Tour, and HR Policies from 8:00am - 4:30pm.

  • Day Two (all employees, non-patient contact employees will be released at 10:00am) includes Cultural Diversity and Customer Service. Direct patient contact employees will have Patient Care Orientation provided by Staff Development from 8:00am - 4:30pm.

  • Day Three (all nurses) – Patient Care Orientation provided by Staff Development 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Open Enrollment is scheduled for May 21, 2012 - June 8, 2012 for health benefit options from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. Otherwise, you may only make health benefit changes if you have a qualifying family event.
