Location: Robert F Valliant Adminstration Center Classrooms
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider course teaches the knowledge and skills required to resuscitate newborns. This is not a certification course and it does not guarantee proficiency during an actual resuscitation. It lays the foundation that enables participants to continue development of these skills. NRP Provider status is renewed every two years. Read the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 6th edition, 2011 (or view the DVD that accompanies the textbook) and pass the NRP online examination in the 30 days prior to the course date. Textbooks are available for purchase through AAP or Amazon. This is a hands-on interactive course. You successfully pass the course after you: • Produce your Verification of Completion document from the NRP online exam (written test) on course day • Demonstrate the NRP resuscitation flow diagram in correct sequence , using correct technique (use the Integrated Skills Performance Checklist—Advanced or Basic—at the back of the textbook as your guide, on pages 299-302) • NRP course attendance does not guarantee successful course completion and attainment of NRP Provider status. If a participant cannot demonstrate critical skills of neonatal resuscitation during the evaluation component of the course, the learner may repeat a Provider course at a later date. Contact Staff Development at 796-8422 for information on accessing the online course.
