Governance and Management
A Board of Directors appointed by the Assembly of the City and Borough of Juneau governs Bartlett Regional Hospital.
Board members serve three-year terms.
Board meetings are open to the public and attended by a Juneau Assembly liaison.
Although the City and Borough of Juneau own the land and assets of the hospital, the hospital is an enterprise fund with the Board responsible for the economic viability and oversight of management of medical operational issues.
Bartlett is associated with Quorum Health Resources Inc., a nationwide firm that manages over 250 hospitals. This relationship allows Juneau to have the best mix of health care services by providing the benefits and purchasing power of a nationwide company. Quorum provides the hospital with access to information and helps maintain lower costs. Association with Quorum has helped strengthen Bartlett Regional Hospital’s financial picture.
The funds to run Bartlett Regional Hospital come from patient services.
Making sure the hospital is fiscally sound is an important part of maintaining quality health care services. Bartlett currently has among the lowest hospital charges of any facility in the State. Over the past seven years, our rate increases have stayed the lowest in Alaska.
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations accredits Bartlett Regional Hospital and all of its services. Bartlett hosts a Laboratory, which is certified by the College of American Pathologists. Mammography services are certified by the American College of Radiology. Bartlett is a certified Medicare and Medicaid provider.
The Board of Directors of Bartlett Regional Hospital is proud of the hospital’s record of management and service.
